BJ's Wholesale Club

A new warehouse open up today and and I decided to go and check out . Much different in many ways from other other wholesale clubs. they actually have a deli department that that caters to individuals.. Other than that it seems to be focused on buying in bulk. The one plus plus was they had they have a membership for $55 with a $40 gift card so my membership the wound up being $15 for the year.

My first visit, a month ago, was a near-disaster. I was looking for a mild winter's coat and could only find workmen's clothes and was rather disappointed. In my mind, I had already ranked BJ's to be below Costco and Sam's. Then I went there once more and am I glad I did! It is definitely better than Sam's in service and rivals Costco in some merchandise, not all though. Limited wine variety, but they do have a few that make you take notice. Cheese - much more varied than Costco. Clothes - they lag behind both Sam's and Costco. What wins for me is the proximal convenience, no mad rush, vegan food, variety of breads and cheese, and last but not the least - not having to buy 10 pounds bags of whatever veggie you are looking for. Plus, gas prices! Although this is not the same expansive BJ's we had in the late 90s in Columbus, it is very much evident that BJ's have realized that they cannot ignore Columbus and are striving hard to serve the community. I wish them success and longevity this time around!
