This was a cool little stop I discovered using the Roadtrippers app. It was a fun place to visit, and I would recommend friends and family to visit if passing through. While the castle is very unique, it's more so the story of how it was made that makes it beautiful.
When you visit make sure to stop in the room with the video explaining how and why the castle came to be, and all of the love and effort put into it, and some background on the Knights of the Golden Trail.
When you come to visit, be careful driving down the road leading to the entrance as it is a steep slope and a very sharp curve. There are some picnic tables down by the river below the castle if you make this a scenic rest stop on your travels.
Went yesterday for my birthday with a group of 8 friends. Super cool place with some really cool history. Loved the garden outside it was super pretty. Walking up the spiral stone stairs felt super cool lol. Great place highly recommend, maintained by some super cool people!
This review is for the wine tasting event. The castle and grounds were interesting and fun to explore. The wine tasting itself was fun . This is advertised as you get 5 drinks and the charcuterie snack. The five drinks were tastings and by tastings I mean maybe an oz. So keep in mind you are paying $50 for the castle and experience. The wine and food are not much. This is a fun event but I would probably only do it once because of the price.
Such a great experience with so much interesting history. Worth the few hour drive we took, and we encourage anyone to visit! The area is motorcycle friendly, but be careful on the descending road down to the castle as there is some fine loose gravel over the pavement.
A nice trip when the weather's nice. Entry was just $5. The castle was build over a few decades. There's someone stationed at the entrance that explains the story in an interesting way. Not a good place for wheelchair users, as most of the castle will require walking up stairs to see. The parking lot is pretty tight.
