Misty Vistas Pet Hospital

I came to Misty Vistas with my hedgehog, Sonic, because he had a cloudy, watery eye and completely stopped eating. Dr. Branstutter did a thorough examination and diagnosed him with an eye infection and an electrolyte imbalance. He kept him overnight and got his appetite back by the next morning, then put him on a round of antibiotics for the eye infection. A few weeks have passed since then, and Sonic is eating every day again and his eye has cleared up so well it looks like there was never an infection! It’s hard to find vets who are this good with hedgehogs so I’m really glad I found Misty Vistas.

Dr. Branstutter Is a literal godsend. Where I am from in the Fairborn/Dayton area, there are not even a handful of places that tend to Exotic pets, despite the many google searches/found vets that claim to. We lost one of our boy sugar glider’s last winter and we were placed in a dire emergent situation where we had to drive him to a vet in Hilliard, OVER an hour away. It was a terrible experience and honestly, that Vet charges SHAMEFUL prices, even for exotic emergencies. My poor female sugar glider developed an abscess on the right side of her face. Initially I thought it was her eye bothering her but the swelling came on fast and heavy, and losing other gliders in the past we were scared. There were only 3 places around Dayton that could handle exotic pets and even when I explained it was emergent, they were still scheduling out a week or more and my “she may not make it that long” pleas were useless. The same day we contacted Dr. Branstutter, he welcomed us in. Unlike this hospital in Hilliard (Columbus) that would not even allow us in the building (so we had to say our ‘see you laters’ in the car, knowing we were saying goodbye) Dr. Branstutter let me stay with her the entire time, which immediately put my pet mom heart at ease. He is an incredibly kind man and at no point did I feel any judgement or shame (which was not our experience in Hilliard.) He was very direct and to the point about what she needed and honestly, what I paid for her care and her procedure and medication ect. was BEYOND reasonable. She had surgery the following morning and they offered to keep her for the night (Hilliard charges extra for overnights) prior to her surgery so I would not have to drive her back almost an hour the following morning. The next time I saw my girl, she had looked SO much better from her procedure (she had teeth extracted) and the swelling in her face had gone down almost completely and her eye was opened back up. She was in great spirits as well! He created a food concoction she LOVED since she couldn’t have anything solid or semi-solid. The atmosphere is very family friendly, which I personally love! I will never take my gliders anywhere else! He earned our trust as well as my Gliders, which can be a finicky breed. I am so grateful and will not recommend anywhere else for exotic pet care!

I cannot love this vet enough! He completely healed my dog, Tink. We came to Misty Vistas to obtain a second opinion concerning our dog. A previous vet had stated they thought her rash on her skin and limping was bone cancer and referred me to a specialist that was ball parked by the referring vet to be 7k! We had her seen at Misty Vistas and he started our girl on a round of antibiotics and steroids. We saw improvement in 4 hours. By the next day she was a completely new dog. 3 weeks later and my dog is still doing great and her quality of life has drastically improved. Thank you!!!

Our kitties are so happy after their visit to Misty Vistas! The vet care is down to earth and got our pets back to feeling better very quickly!! No silly need to go on-line and submit a manifesto prior to being seen by the dr. Very personalized service and I am so glad I found Misty Vistas!!!

Dr. Branstutter is knowledgeable and compassionate. He did a thorough examination of my sick birds, provided a diagnosis in terms I could understand, even showing me the results of what he found, and walked me through options. He operated on one of my birds and did a great job. She is recovering well and nearly back to her old self. Overall, I had a wonderful experience.
