OhioHealth Shelby Hospital

Lets face it, everyone hates having to go to the ER. I have been to the Shelby OhioHealth ER two times in the past month. I've only been to the ER twice before that in my 34 years on this Earth, and both prior experiences were horrible. These last two experience were such a breath of fresh air. I arrived with a serious pain, one time about 6PM in the evening and one time about 4PM in the afternoon. Both times, and I know it's not always the case, I was the only person in the ER and was invited in within 2 minutes of my arrival. The nurses, both times, were respectful, kind, and took my concerns seriously. In both cases, before the nurse had even completely finished, the Dr. came in to see me. The Dr.'s I had, Dr. Malakooti and Dr. Doshi were great. Dr. Malakooti made me feel really at ease, was humorous, and gave me multiple avenues of attack for my situation. Dr. Doshi talked with me for a while answering all my questions, offered advice and ideas, helped me lay out a plan before seeing my PCP, and was really down to Earth. Both were professional and knowledgeable. The lady who did my blood work was nice and did a good job. I had to wait a bit the second time for my blood work to be run, but other than that I was out within an hour to an hour and a half of coming in. The guy who had to make sure my insurance information and payment stuff was taken care of was great too.

For having to go in for something you consider a serious problem or emergency, the last thing you want it to wait forever, not feel taken care of, or not feel like you are being heard, and I am glad to say none of that was true for me at Shelby OhioHealth. I recommend their ER team wholeheartedly and thank them immensely for making my experience not just manageable, but positive.

My wife had a scheduled c-section for our second son here, and it was a breeze. Accommodations were great, and I was even treated like a patient (fed me, got me anything I needed, etc.). I would highly recommend going here if you have the choice.

I gave birth to my second son here, and absolutely loved everything about this hospital! They took great care of us, and also made us feel very comfortable. The nurses were so sweet and I knew any time I needed their help I could call and they’d be there instantly, even though there were plenty of other patients. I can’t wait to have our third baby at this hospital with the fabulous doctors and nurses!
Edited to add- I recently delivered our third baby here as well and had yet another wonderful experience! Even during this pandemic, the nurses and Dr. Guimaraes made the hospital stay wonderful and comfortable. Not only did I feel completely safe, I enjoyed every minute. So glad to have a wonderful hospital and team!

My great grandmother was in and out of this hospital several times in her last few months. I just wanted to show gratitude to the nursing staff and doctors that we came into contact with when she was in there. She was going through some phases of not knowing where she was, and being quite the little runaway and they always handled her with nothing but kindness and gentle reassurance. I appreciate everything they did to make her as comfortable and at ease as they could. And understanding to how sensitive I was in regards to her care, by letting me always be with her whenever they were running a test or asking her questions. Thank you Shelby Hospital!
